David's Shield by Jim McKenzie

Project David’s Shield, helping and standing with Israel's physical guardian, reaches out to those who protect Israel.

Who has ever seen such things? Is a country born in one day?

Is a nation brought forth all at once? For as soon as Tziyon went into labor, she brought forth her children. (Isaiah 66:8)

Israel Defense Forces Mission:

To defend the existence, territorial integrity and sovereignty

of the state of IsraelTo protect the inhabitants of Israel and to combat all forms of terrorism which  threaten the daily life

CFI and Project David’s Shield aim to stand in solidarity with the stated mission of the IDF. The best armies in the world are the ones that believe in what they are doing so much that they will make any sacrifice to further the cause and accomplish their mission.

We have a responsibility as Christian Friends of Israel, here in Jerusalem, and from the Nations, to let the Israeli soldiers know that we love and support the IDF and to remind them who they are. We strive to remind them that they don’t fight their battles alone, and that the God of Israel is with them. We are able to tell them that they have millions of people around the world who pray for them daily!

Being an Israeli soldier is not easy. The best weapon a soldier has is not his gun, but his will to fight. If a soldier is totally convinced of the righteousness of the cause for which he fights, he will be a much fiercer warrior. Israel is the one nation on earth to whom God has promised a specified piece of real estate. The Gift of the Land of Canaan to Israel was confirmed by God’s Word, command, statute, everlasting covenant, and oath! (Psalm 105: 7-11)

The Army of Israel is fighting on the earthly battleground. Will you take your place on the walls of Jerusalem? (Isaiah 62:1, 6-7) Will you stand in the gap and petition God on behalf of the Land and the people who are called by his name?

CFI and Project David’s Shield would ask that you join with us in our efforts by contributing funds which allow us the privilege and honor to meet with Base Commanders, and their soldiers to understand the needs they have and for the divine opportunity to forge bonds of friendships that can prove eternal.

Your gift to Project David’s Shield will make a soldier feel proud of their service and boost their morale. Your gift of expressing your gratitude to an Israeli soldier shall prove to be an amazing encouragement!

August 2020 - David's Shield Project Update by Jim McKenzie

“For You are my rock and my fortress;

For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.” Psalm 31:3

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God,

He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

What a year this has been.  Wherever you live in the world, one thing is for certain – we have all had a shared experience this year that is like none other.  One other thing is for certain – and more importantly so – we have an unchangeable God who is stable and trustworthy; nothing catches Him by surprise.  While the above scriptures were spoken by and/or to the Jewish people, we - as those who have chosen to come alongside them and worship the One True God - can also trust in His promises for our lives.

The current defenders of Israel– just as their ancestors – rely on these Scriptures, and many others.  Most at least have a Zionist understanding, if not also acknowledging their Biblical mandate in protecting this Land.  While the “might of Israel’s army” is strong, even stronger is the One who goes with them.  He will lead and guide them for His Name’s sake, for He is their rock and their fortress.  They are encouraged to be strong, of good courage, to not fear nor be afraid of their enemies – not because of their own might - but because their God will go with them, never leaving nor forsaking them.  We give thanks that He is unchangeable, stable and trustworthy ~ Elohim Chaim, the Living God!

While many of us have been put on hold with our lives, the Israeli soldiers keep marching on.  There is never a break from the enemy – whether that is a nation, terror group, person or virus.  Project David’s Shield continues to be an encouragement in difficult times and provide items of comfort to make things a little less challenging.  Some of the items gifted have been high quality backpacks for Lone Soldiers, supplies for Reserve Duty units, GPS tactical radios for the Border Police, and food vouchers for specific Lone Soldiers.

So, we give thanks to you – our Partners in this fight against the darkness that tries to dispel the Light.  Thank you for being a gift to Project David’s Shield.  It is becoming less and less popular to side with Israel, as many view this as a political agenda – however, we know that what we are seeing in the natural is only a glimpse of what is really going on in the Heavenlies.  We are grateful to our God who has revealed His plans and purposes for Israel – the People and the Land.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

August 2020 - Project Update by Jim McKenzie

The Nation of Israel is ever reminded that her enemies are present and sometimes they will literally knock on her doors.  Such was the case as recently as July 27 2020.  The IDF thwarted an infiltration attempt into Israel by a Hezbollah terror squad. The terrorists, who were armed with assault rifles, crossed the Blue Line and were in Israeli territory before they were stopped by IDF troops.

Iran and Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy, are using Syria as a Launchpad for terror against Israeli civilians. Since the outbreak of conflict in Syria in 2011, Iran has provided significant military and financial support to the Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad. Iran has long-sought influence over Syria, as control over Syria increases Iran’s ability to threaten Israel with attacks and its overall control in the region.

“The IDF takes this breach of Israeli sovereignty very seriously and will continue to operate to protect Israeli civilians from all acts of terror. We hold the government of Lebanon responsible for all activity conducted within its borders.” https://www.idf.il/en/

CFI and Project David’s Shield continue to seek opportunities to encourage and show support through affirmation of the IDF mission and by conveying to them that prayers from the Nations continue to be offered up for wisdom and protection as they defend the very existence of the State of Israel.  A God mandated existence…

Recently, we were able to provide tactical communication radios to a Border Patrol unit that is tasked with Special Operations.  Some of the new features and technical advantages that these radios provide will result in a much higher level of security than current models allow.  This request came directly to CFI and highlights the trust and appreciation that the defenders of Israel place in our relationship.

It’s solely due to the giving and support and prayers of those in the Nations who agree with God’s plan to restore the Jewish people to their land (Ezekiel 36:8,24).  Thank you for your blessing Israel.
