Wall of Prayer by Linda McMurray
Israel is center stage for the plans of Almighty God for the world. It was to Israel that Messiah came in human flesh, was crucified and buried. It was in Israel that He was resurrected and ascended back to the Father. He will return to the Mount of Olives, set up His Kingdom, and reign from Israel. As a result, Israel is also a place of heightened, ongoing spiritual and physical warfare. The Word of God says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem – may those who love you be at peace!” (Psalms 122:6-7)
In response to that scripture, the Wall of Prayer has been established to provide spiritual protection for the land of Israel through prayer. We operate in four arenas:
“Israel Watch” is our worldwide intercessory network which through prayer battles spiritual forces that attempt to hinder the fulfillment of God’s promises for Israel.
Watchman and Wall of Prayer newsletters keep prayer teams abreast of urgent concerns and provide monthly prayer points.
Prayer Walks allow intercessors to meet with Israel residents and pray onsite with them for their needs.
“Prayers from Jerusalem” provide opportunities for the nations to send in requests and receive prayer from Jerusalem via Facebook ‘Live,’ email, or postal mail.

I Traveled On My Knees
Today I took a journey to Israel across the seas.
I did not go by boat or plane. I traveled on my knees.
I saw so many people there with scars and wounds within,
But God told me that I should go—there was oil to pour from Him.
I replied, "Lord, I cannot go—there’s no plane flying across the seas."
He answered quickly, "Yes, you can—by traveling on your knees."
He said, "You pray—I'll meet their needs; you call, and I will hear.
Be concerned about their fate—and so many filled with fear."
And so I tried it, knelt in prayer, gave up some hours of ease,
I felt the Lord right by my side while traveling on my knees.
As I prayed on and saw them touched, and the sorely wounded healed,
I saw God's workers' strength renewed while laboring in the field.
I said, "Yes. Lord. I have a call—my desire Thy Will to please,
I can go and heed Thy call by traveling on my knees."

The Community of Prayer Warriors
“They devoted themselves ...to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe… And the Lord added to their number…” (Acts 2:42-43, 47 NIV)
The troubling events that have taken place in our world over the last year have resulted in increased prayer sessions among many Believers; trouble has a way of doing that. This has been an appropriate season to strengthen the Wall of Prayer. In Israel, 2021 began with a third strict lockdown. Although we were unable to meet with Israeli residents, our prayers and words of encouragement for them intensified through phone calls, written letters, and electronic mail. The two monthly Zoom prayer meetings that originate from CFI Jerusalem have also intensified in power and/or number. Pastor Abeni Bastos, our CFI representative in Brazil, had this to say about our January session with the international reps:
Shalom! I prayed in Portuguese and was very happy when I heard Nicolene's prayer spoken in English. She was practically repeating the same prayer that I had just prayed in Portuguese! So it was definitely proof that the Holy Spirit is doing something beautiful and special through our prayer meetings. This testimony can certainly be very encouraging for those who feel limited due to the language barrier. For me in particular, it has been wonderful! In fact, it is a blessing and an honor to pray with this team every month. I believe that this union of nations in prayer can release tremendous blessings for both Israel and our nations. Thank you very much for your initiative in providing us such a beautiful experience…
Together in Yeshua, Abeni & Claudia Bastos, CFI Brazil
It is also exciting to witness growth in the other monthly session with our team of prayer warriors from the nations. Initiating online prayer groups does take some effort, but by the leading and power of the Holy Spirit these prayers will reap eternal benefits for the Kingdom of God. If it is feasible, we encourage you to begin or continue supporting group prayer meetings for Israel in your country. “...if any one is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.” (John 9:31 RSV) We are very appreciative of the encouragement, prayers, and financial support that you give to Israel through CFI. By undergirding us, you pour strength into us, and we in turn pour into the Israeli residents through our visits, love gifts, and prayers with and for them. Toda Rabah! (“Thank you very much” in Hebrew.) May God reward you abundantly.

Gathering Together in Unity
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalms 133:1 KJV)
Our first Prayer Team. We are believing God for growth!
This month was a time of “firsts” for the Wall of Prayer. We initiated our first CFI Representatives “Israel Watch” meeting using Zoom video conference software. What a pleasure it was to see representa- tives come together from Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, and the United States! Because of Covid, there has been no annual conference, where the representatives would normally gather, so everyone was genuinely happy to see one another.
Each representative explained how their prayer teams currently operate. With the exception of more remote areas, public gatherings have been curtailed in the majority of these nations. The onset of the Covid pandemic has changed the way most countries can convene for worship. The representatives affirmed that many church services are now online, and prayer has been relegated to individuals at home. Only a few representatives have online corporate prayer meetings. Prayer is certainly not new, but group prayer online has recently emerged as a way of praying together in unity.
We encouraged the representatives to consider hosting online prayer times in their nations if feasible. Even telephone conference call lines can allow people to pray in groups. There is unparalleled power in unified corporate prayer! Our meeting included a time for the representatives to pray aloud for Israel and for us to pray for their CFI work in the nations. We all enjoyed unifying around prayer for Israel and agreed to convene another meeting next month.
As we launched the “Israel Watch” prayer network, people have begun to respond to the call to pray for Israel. When they contact us, we forward those names to the CFI representative of their country. If there is no representative in their country, we include them in the Jerusalem team.
We are pleased that the Jerusalem team convened its “first” two Zoom prayer meetings for those who would unite in praying for Israel. Thus far, we have had participation from Messianic Jews and Christians from as far away as the Philippines. Although we started with a small group, we are believing God for growth. “So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9 TLV).
We say “THANK YOU” for the love, prayers and generous support that you have shown to Israel through CFI. May the Lord bless you richly. “The person who blesses others will prosper; he who satisfies others will be satisfied himself” (Proverbs 11:25 CJB).
WALL OF PRAYER - October 2020 - Project Update - by Linda McMurray
REDEEMING THE TIME
“Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately… making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil...be...understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:15-17 AMPC)
Sometimes the Lord uses circumstances that we perceive as delays or detours to lead us into experiences that we may have otherwise missed. The Israeli government mandated a second lockdown which spanned almost two-thirds of the month of October. Most businesses were closed, and travel was restricted to 1 kilometer—except to buy food or medicine. Those limitations sound very confining, but God knows to how to use even times of restriction to accomplish His purposes.
Some of the CFI Jerusalem staff live in close proximity to one another, so a group took advantage of this time to research places of significance within our own vicinity. What a surprise it was to learn that we live within 1 kilometer of the local United Nations complex and the Tolerance Monument!
Despite our daily travels through the neighborhood, we had never gone up the big hill to discover what was on the other side. Now that there was time to investigate our area, we prayerfully took advantage of the opportunities. Our walks in Jerusalem were precious times of “praying onsite with insight” as we worshipped, interceded, and declared God’s Word over Israel praying to the north, south, east and west. Each walk revealed areas of amazing significance right in our area! As we walked and prayed, both our spiritual insight and our love for Israel grew.
This second lockdown was not a waste of time. It was a pause in our agenda so that we could be available for some Divine prayer appointments that God had scheduled for us. “Now we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28 TLV)
We are thankful for the love, prayers and generous support that you have shown to Israel through CFI. Jesus said that whatever kindness or generosity you show to even the least of His little ones will be counted as done to Him. May the Lord bless you.
